J.F. Sebastian is a genetic designer who contracts for the Tyrell Corporation. He lives alone in the Bradbury Building, a decaying Los Angeles apartment block. His reclusive existence is defined by his work creating artificial life forms and his own rare medical condition, which causes him to age prematurely. He becomes a key figure in the narrative when the fugitive replicants seek him out, using his access to reach their creator, Dr. Eldon Tyrell.

In the film, the replicants Roy Batty and Leon visit Hannibal Chew while he is working in a freezer. They pressure him into telling them that J. F. Sebastian can get them into Tyrell's inner sanctum. Sebastian later allows Roy Batty to use his access to meet with Dr. Eldon Tyrell. Roy Batty kills Tyrell and Sebastian.

In Their Own Story

J.F. Sebastian lives in the Bradbury Building, surrounded by the mechanical toys and artificial life forms he creates. His existence is solitary, marked only by his work and his unusual medical condition. When the replicants Roy Batty and Leon track him down through Hannibal Chew, Sebastian becomes their unwitting gateway to Tyrell Corporation. He provides them access to Dr. Eldon Tyrell's inner sanctum. Following this meeting, Roy Batty kills both Tyrell and Sebastian.
